SLEEP SKY
Words & Music by Neil Pike ©1978
I was halfway round the sleep sky,
When a strange voice called my name.
Was it just a dream or was it more like it seemed
Echoes in my brain…
Whisper in the rain….
I’m going sane…

On silver staircase dreaming,
I chased a yellow moon.
Halfway down, I turned around
Glimpsed it through the gloom…
Laughter in my room…
Shining soon…

And the four winds danced like silken skiffs,
Sailing lightly in.
Blew my soul into glittering gold,
Birds upon the wing…
Seeds upon the wind…
Birds on the wing…

And the angels at the gate were laughing,
Trading tales of distant suns.
A thousand lights & deep space nights
All to one…
Heavenly run…
All to one…
