THE CUCKOO SONG
Words & Music by Neil Pike ©1977
I sleep in a house with rounded corners,
No walls to weigh you down.
On moonlight nights you can dream forever,
Lay your burden down.

Like a leaf upon a tree, I will not shine for always,
The winter winds’ll come & go.
But when my life is filled, I will be laughing still
’cause I know the tree’ll grow…

One morning as I awoke, the cuckoo called my name.
I blinked in wonder, the phoenix had been tamed.
Knowing again for the first time, I answered with a song.
Across the floor, in bird-like dreams, the cuckoo danced along.
Ane the universe kept on smiling…
